Beyond the Classroom

This page highlights experiences outside of coursework and technical research that have shaped how I work with people, take responsibility, and lead teams. These roles have helped me develop communication, organization, and empathy alongside my academic work.

Leadership

Culinary Arts Society Leader – IIT Kanpur

Leading the Culinary Arts Club involved managing a student-run organization from the ground up. The role required coordinating a 20-member team, planning events, handling logistics, and working within budget constraints. Organizing large-scale activities and competitions emphasized teamwork, accountability, and practical decision-making in fast-paced settings.

Community Engagement

Food Safety and Nutrition Outreach

As part of a Culinary Arts community outreach initiative, we organized a session for children from nearby villages to teach basic food safety and nutrition. The focus was on simple explanations and hands-on learning for the children.

Volunteer Tutor - Prayas, IIT Kanpur

Taught students from nearby villages of class 8th and 4th maths and science for a semester through Prayas, which is a student-led initiative of IIT Kanpur focused on providing education to the marginalized children from in and around IIT Kanpur.

Mentorship

Student Guide – IIT Kanpur Counselling Service

Serving as a student guide involved mentoring first-year students during their transition to college life. Support ranged from academic guidance to helping students adjust socially and emotionally, reinforcing the importance of patience, listening, and consistency.
